@the_GTBS # Green Tourism Week this week

It's Green Tourism Week this week.  Hope everyone is busy trying to be a little greener this week especially but let's try and do all year round!

We try and do our bit. Some examples are:

Local Produce: Our breakfast, where possible, is fabulous locally sourced farm-assured, seasonal, organic and/or fair-trade produce mainly from County Durham, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.

Wildlife: We encouraging bird life through erecting nesting boxes and through year-round feeding at the garden bird tables. We've not installed a bird box with a camera - a nest has been built but not bird had nested yet - we'll keep you posted!

Use foot, bike or pubic transport:  We're on the bus route for Beamish Museum, Durham and Newcastle - so you can leave the car in our farmyard!  We have free bike storage for guests. Ouston & Urpeth Ramble is a 3 mile countryside and road walk on our doorstep!

Waste: - Relatively new - we have a wormery - so any food leftovers (if we have any!) are put in the wormery by either our guests or us!
